Venice Day 5 - "So Sad to Leave You"

So, today was the day we left Venice - it has been so amazing - better than amazing - I have wanted to come here for so long and it was everything I hoped it would be.  If Venice is a place you have been thinking of visiting but you have maybe been put off by being told it's "too crowded", "too smelly" etc etc - DON'T LISTEN - sometimes it was a little crowded - but what major city isn't - and I can honestly say that it most definitely was not smelly - maybe we just didn't go the the smelly bit???  Our hotel - Ca San Polo was fab - in the centre of Venice - the room was small but lovely,  great breakfast - lots of choice - and Prosecco (for breakfast) - what more would you want!!!   The staff were lovely and extremely helpful - I would absolutely stay here again if we came back.

I loved, loved, loved it - and so did Paul - every bit of it was amazing - all I can say is GO - you won't regret it!

Anyway, we had breakfast - with Prosecco of course! Suitcases packed, walked to the train station - didn't take long - although we did get a bit lost - and again if you do walk around with your suitcase there are a lot of steps to go up and down!  Train to Napoli - 5 hours - went quickly though.

From Naples train station we took the Alibus to the airport to pick up the hire car (look out for the hire car signs - and there is a shuttle bus that will drop you off where all the hire cars are).  We then drove to Portasirena in Paestum on the Cilento Coast.   We are only staying at Portasirena for two nights - we had booked Casale Giancesare for the whole of our stay in Paestum but unfortunately there were overbooked for our first two nights but very kindly booked this agriturismo for us instead.

Arrived at Portasirena and it looks lovely - made to feel very welcome and the room is gorgeous

Ready to go out

They have a big party going on tonight - it seems to be a popular venue for weddings, birthday party's etc - but we asked if we could eat in the restaurant and they said yes - there was only us and one other couple in there.  The service was second to none - even though they were busy with the large party - they were extremely attentive and we had a beautiful meal - we had antipasti to share (buffalo mozzarella to die for!) then for main course, I had pork ribs and Paul had lamb - pud was Tiramisu - of course - the best so far - I bloody love Tiramisu lol!  All accompanied by a lovely bottle of white (weird that Paul and I are usually red wine drinkers and rarely drink white but here we rarely drink red!).

Well it was a long day - so off to bed - the party was very loud but we were so tired it really didn't bother us. Looking forward to having a dip in the pool tomorrow - looks lovely.

Think we're gonna like it here!

Thanks for looking at my blog.  Have you been to Venice - what did you think of it?
